Most of us have had our certain goals, some have been small, some have been quite large. Some of those goals have grown as we’ve grown. Do you have any goals you’d like to reach now? You’d like to be accepted into a certain college? Travel to a certain place by a certain age? Make a certain connection with a certain person? Get a better job? Buy a house within a certain time? Improve your health? Get a dog? Buy a couch? There are lots of goals. But you have to be committed to working on getting there!

Some of us are more goal oriented than others because of a life experience or we’re just born that way-others have to work a bit more at it. In my own life I’ve dealt with several serious…at times, life threatening illnesses. When you go through these events you become very away of the passage of time and the importance of every day. The concept of meeting deadlines and obtaining goals is something that becomes engrained. There are many things that have been “gifted” to me through these times that I would gladly trade, but the ability to envision, commit and achieve goals is not one of them. Time marches on. Don’t take any day for granted. The time is now!

If you know you’re one of those people that needs to work at goal commitment, then that awareness will help you achieve. It’s like knowing you’re allergic to seafood and not ordering it when you eat out. Being aware is key. If you know you want to reach your goal, but tend to be someone who slacks off, then be aware that you’re not sticking to the program. What is your goal? What are you doing to make it happen? Are you making time every day to get closer to reaching your goal? Are you saving the money that you want to save? Are you exercising the amount of time you should be? Eating what you should be? Write a list. Post it where you can see it. The more often you do what it is you want to do, the more routinelike it will become. Post a picture of your goal. If it’s a place, a job, a person, a thinner you…money; post it somewhere you can see it all the time as a reminder and encouragement. You won’t accomplish what you want to accomplish if you’re not doing the work. A goal is only as good as it’s user. Love to know your thoughts!

“Energy is the essence of life. Every day you decide how you’re going to use it by knowing what you want and what it takes to reach that goal, and my maintaining focus.” ~Oprah Winfrey
