It’s a challenge to accept that when things are standing still that in some way something’s happening. How much happier we would be, if we could come to accept that nothing was at times a part of the road to something, that nothingness is a different brush stroke in the picture, but is still a brush stroke. It would be an emotional vacation if we could see nothing happening as just that pause or fork in the road, an “ah moment”, a time to reflect…that time we all should take to make our goals materialize. Reflection leads to peace of mind. Peace of mind enhances productivity. It’s hard to think of doing nothing as doing something because that may feel like we’re relinquishing control. Most of us are really drawn to control. What if we were able to understand that while doing gives us a feeling of control, that not doing can give us that feeling as well. I’m talking about accepting ourselves, accepting others. I’m talking about accepting our life, so that we can create a real sense of peace.  If we’re able to do that, we then can create the kind of experiences, relationships, and outcomes we’d really like to have. Acceptance can be a type of control.

Have you ever had the experience of creating a project, starting a business, or working on a relationship, and wondered if your efforts would ever succeed? You questioned your time, expenses, maybe even your passion? You were one tiny snippet away from throwing in the towel…you took a breather…a step back…a nap…a break. Reflection leads to peace of mind. Have you ever found that during that short “time out”, that what you had thought might never happen, actually took a step forward? Sometimes taking a pause is what things need. Accepting that things don’t happen exactly as you want them to happen at the exact moment is really important. Knowing and understanding this concept, is really helpful when you’re knocking your head against your beautifully painted wall. Nothing happening is what’s supposed to happen…on the way to things happening. This is control at it’s best…it’s control in a different package. You are the one deciding to take a break.

Reaching acceptance empowers us and brings about the realization that only you can control yourself. Acceptance leads to peace of mind. When you learn to stop resisting and open up to what is present, you learn to accept what isn’t present. If you accept life in both the happiest and worst of times; you’ll be able to find a balance that sustains a high level of peace or “ah”. You’ll be ready for whatever may come your way. You’ll be able to reach your goals. Reflection leads to peace of mind.
